Sometimes finding something you forgot you had can pay off big time. That was the case for Southern California POWERBALL player Juan Pinto this weekend when he stumbled upon a POWERBALL ticket in his glove box that matched five of the six numbers from the August 7th draw. That ticket he purchased at Starlite Market, which is located at 2259 North Del Mar Avenue in Rosemead (Los Angeles County), two and a half weeks ago turned out to be worth $289,341.
And better yet… Pinto didn’t even know the ticket was a winner. He gave the ticket to his father to check at a local Lottery retailer. And that is when his father called him with the great news. “I had to go to work, so I gave him the ticket,” Pinto explained. “I didn’t really have much time. It was unreal to get that phone call.” Pinto, who works full time in the healthcare industry, plans to use his newly-found fortune to help catch up on some bills. Pinto says he also plans on helping his dad with his retirement.
Pinto’s ticket was number eight out of a total of nine winning tickets that matched five of six numbers in the August 7th draw. So check your glove boxes because that last winning ticket, just like Juan Pinto’s, successfully matched the numbers 58, 5, 25, 59 and 30, missing only the Powerball number 32. And that final unclaimed ticket which was purchased at Kim’s Union 76, which is located at 14216 Avalon Boulevard in Los Angeles.
